TPO, or Thermoplastic Polyolefin roofing membrane, is a relative newcomer to the roofing industry. In use since 1989, the manufacturing process of TPO took a giant leap forward in 1993 when non-reinforced TPO membranes were replaced with membranes containing reinforcing fabric. Since that time, the TPO single-ply roofing market has grown to hundreds of millions of square feet annually comprising the fastest growing segment of the U.S. single-ply roofing industry.
TPO consists of three layers: a TPO polymer base; a strong, polyester-reinforced fabric center (scrim), and a tough thermoplastic polyolefin compounded top-ply.
Energy Star rated for light reflectance and heat emittance – TPO is highly puncture resistant and stands up under heavy foot traffic. Installation is via mechanical attachment or bonding adhesive (fully-adhered).
A Commercial Roofing Representative would be happy to meet with you about your next low slope or flat roof project and introduce the value of a TPO roofing system.
